Working at Prescott Home Safety
Prescott Home Safety is a firefighter-owned, family-run company built around one core principle: protecting lives and homes through quality, code-compliant work. We specialize in chimney, fireplace, and dryer-vent services where attention to detail and integrity truly matter.
We don’t cut corners. We don’t rush safety. And we don’t compromise standards to increase volume. If that mindset aligns with how you work, you’ll feel right at home here.
Pay & Professional Respect
We believe skilled, motivated professionals deserve to be paid fairly for their work. Compensation at Prescott Home Safety is structured to reflect both efficiency, craftsmanship, and long-term performance.
We offer commission-based piece work for routine maintenance services and appropriate, safety-driven upsells that are directly related to those maintenance jobs. This allows motivated technicians to be rewarded for thorough, high-quality work—without pressure sales or scare tactics.
For larger or more complex projects—such as chimney repairs, relines, or dryer-vent cleaning for commercial properties and apartment complexes—we pay hourly, recognizing the planning, coordination, and time required to complete these jobs correctly and safely.
In addition to base pay structures, we operate a KPI Incentive Program that rewards consistent excellence, not shortcuts. Incentives are tied to measurable performance standards such as:
Quality of inspections and documentation
Safety compliance
Reliability and attendance
Customer professionalism and communication
Accuracy of reporting and follow-through
Team contribution and accountability
This program is designed to reward technicians who protect the company’s standards, culture, and reputation—not just production numbers.
Pay is based on experience, performance, and reliability. High performers are valued, respected, and given opportunities to grow.
High Standards & Work Ethic
This is home-safety work. What we do directly impacts the safety of families and properties. Our technicians are expected to work thoroughly and methodically, follow industry standards and manufacturer requirements, and document findings accurately.
Every home is treated as if lives depend on it—because sometimes they do. Attention to detail, integrity, and pride in workmanship are non-negotiable here.
Schedule Flexibility (Especially for Firefighters)
We understand shift work. Many members of our team are off-duty firefighters, medics, or first responders. We intentionally build flexibility into scheduling to accommodate rotating shifts, trade days, and family commitments.
That said, reliability still matters. Our expectation is that employees provide a minimum of four (4) days of availability per month. This allows us to meet customer demand while still respecting individual schedules.
We value balance and recognize that your primary career and responsibilities matter.
Long-Term Growth & Apprenticeship Path
Prescott Home Safety is not looking for short-term or temporary help. We are building a team for the long haul.
Most team members start in an entry-level apprentice position, where the focus is on learning the trade correctly, safely, and thoroughly. We are looking for people who want to develop real skills and grow into highly qualified technicians over the coming years.
As part of that growth, we support and encourage the development of professional credentials, including:
Certified Dryer Exhaust Technician (C-DET)
Certified Chimney Sweep (CSIA)
Gas appliance and hearth-related certifications
If you are interested in learning a trade, committing to a career path, and being part of a winning team for years to come, this is the environment we’ve built.
Culture & Expectations
Prescott Home Safety is not a “punch-the-clock” job—it’s a responsibility-driven role. Our technicians often work independently in customers’ homes and represent the company without direct supervision.
We value trust, accountability, clear communication, and a professional appearance and demeanor. If you take ownership of your work and hold yourself to a high standard, you’ll thrive here.
Who We’re Looking For
We’re looking for people who take pride in doing things the right way—even when no one is watching.
The right fit for Prescott Home Safety is someone who:
Has a strong work ethic and personal accountability
Is interested in learning a skilled trade and building long-term qualifications
Values safety and compliance over speed or shortcuts
Is professional and respectful with homeowners and property managers
Can work independently while maintaining consistent quality and documentation
Shows up prepared, on time, and ready to work
Takes ownership of mistakes and is willing to learn and improve
Experience in the fire service, construction trades, HVAC, or other safety-critical fields is a plus—but mindset, commitment, and integrity matter more than a résumé.
This May Not Be a Good Fit If…
This role may not be a good fit if you:
Are only looking for short-term or temporary employment
Prefer fast, high-volume work over detailed, methodical inspections
Are uncomfortable working inside occupied homes
Struggle with punctuality, documentation, or accountability
Need constant supervision to stay on task
Are looking for commission-only work or aggressive upselling
View safety standards as “guidelines” instead of requirements
We’re proud of our standards and intentional about protecting our culture.
